Jointed Goatgrass is native to southern Europe and eastern Asia. It’s considered a noxious weed, here in North America, as it contaminates wheat crops. More relevantly for my Sierra Nevada Foothill clients, goat grass has pointy seeds that work their way into clothing and fur. I have had the experience that the seeds “crawl” up my pant leg, which is extremely alarming when you are not expecting it. Bernice got a seed in her ear this summer that had to be removed by the vet. I hate the stuff. The goats will gladly eat it, especially at the very moment it has gone to seed and is being such a nuisance.
