These blackberries aren’t Himalayan at all but Armenian and Iranian. They were introduced to North America in 1885 for their delicious fruit and quickly took over. They alter native ecosystems, reduce farmable land, and suck up a lot of water. They create painful, impenetrable brambles.

Goats LOVE the blackberry brambles, and will knock them back nicely. The berries are particularly vulnerable to grazing in the fall and winter.
