The goats are mix of Boers and Savannahs (with a few Kiko crosses thrown in!). Both Savannahs and Boers originated in South Africa, which makes them well-suited to our hot, dry, Nevada County summers. Both types of goats eat both grass and brush, but the Savannahs have a lighter build that allows them to get up a little higher into the trees.

A new addition to the herd are some Kathadin and Dorper sheep. These are hair sheep that won’t need shearing, and they eat some of the vegetation that the goats aren’t as excited about. This creates a more thorough grazing/browsing dynamic that really gets the job done.

The herd is healthy, well-mannered, and up to date on their vaccinations.
